Bronx House Swim Academy provides lifeguard training through the American Red Cross® certification. This course provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
 

BECOME A CERTIFIED RED CROSS LIFEGUARD

Dates: Dec 3, 4, & 5 | 2pm-7pm

Registration begins Nov 1, 2019
This course provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
This is a great opportunity to prepare young adults for summer or all year round aquatics-related employment.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age: 16 years of age/ by the end of the course.
Swim distance using front crawl (freestyle), back stroke & breaststroke without resting: 50 yards for each.
Feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface.
Tread water without using arms for 2 minutes.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Attend and participate in all class sessions.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
Pass both the Section 1-CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid and Section 2-Lifeguarding Skills final written exams with minimum grades of 80 percent.

POLICIES
If participant fails to pass the prerequisite, $60 will be deducted from payment and the balance will be refunded.
$35 administrative fee will be deducted for all cancellations prior to first class.
Refund policy: No refunds will be given if participant fails to attend all the classes or chooses to withdraw from class once the classes have started.
