Youth and Teens Swim Classes
Group classes are a great opportunity for young swimmers to not only improve in the water, but have a great time doing it with new friends. All of our classes are taught by qualified Red Cross swim instructors with many years of teaching experience. Our goal is to create great swimmers, but also to have a great time. We strive to create an inclusive environment where young swimmers learn at their pace and everyone is comfortable in the water.
Classes are offered once a week for 10 weeks (schedule is different for the summer) and are 45 minutes for swimmers 6 years and older.
Classes grouped by ability for children aged 6-16 years old
Bronx House Swim Academy is proud to offer the newly updated American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. The Bronx House Swim Academy learn to swim program consists of six comprehensive levels that teach swimmers of varying abilities how to swim skillfully and safely. All aquatic and safety skills are taught in a logical progression. The objective is to teach people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water.
Level 1: Water Exploration
Level 2: Primary Skills
Level 3: Stroke Readiness
Level 4: Stroke Development
Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Level 6: Stroke Proficiency
Classes for beginners (level 1-3), intermediates (level 3-5), and advanced (level 5-6) swimmers are available. If you do not know which level to sign up for, you may speak with a Bronx House pool staff and they can advise you on the appropriate swim level for your child.
Swim checks can be done and must be set up with the Aquatics Director, or you can speak with the pool staff to ascertain which level is appropriate for you or your child. Please check the pool schedule to see when the classes are offered. Any further questions you may email the Aquatics Coordinator, Maurice Grimes who will respond as soon as possible. Thank you and we hope to see you in the pool!
